Here are a few stories to read this Tuesday morning. (I was expecting to have reliable internet this weekend, but did not.)

• Publishers are suing Google over its use of Google Books for training Gemini (this includes generative AI).
• Isn’t it sad how Google has debased itself? Fifteen or twenty years ago they were mapping the world and digitizing the world’s knowledge, and now they are nothing but pirates.
• The USA Copyright Office has proposed raising registration fees.
• Bookstore owners are moving into the literary criticism niche, .
• I stopped even reading guest blog posts pitches a long time ago. Here’s why.
• I was recently reminded that Bitly has a scammy QR code service (they’ll break your QR code if you don’t pay). Here’s a service which is legit.
• A study touting students being helped by AI has been debunked, and later withdrawn.
