Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.
- Amazon extended pre-orders in KDP. The limit is now 18 months, but this is only good for new releases.
- Here are 5 ways to identify your writing weaknesses.
- I’ve recently revived my Instagram, Bluesky, and Twitter accounts, and this struck me as a good time to revisit my blog post on social media marketing for authors.
- Here’s the latest from Victoria Strauss on the Anthropic AI piracy settlement.
- The thing I find most interesting about the new report saying library ebook lending harms sales is that I was hearing the exact same thing 5-6 years ago. (I was never allowed to see the data supporting this claim, but that is what everyone was saying.)
- If it was true back then, why would we need another report now? And if that was true then, why haven’t publishers pulled their books from library ebook services such as Overdrive?
P.S. Never discard old tech just because it’s old. I have recently had to subscribe someone to the Jetpack version of this newsletter because the links in the regular newsletter were not working for them.
